For lawyers

    Enquiries that arrive already scoped

Qualified requests, verification done properly, and fees that remain yours.

    What you get

    1. A man checking a map on his phone in a city street.

      Step 1 of 4

Be found where people are looking

Clients on ora. search by area of law and by canton, not by name. Your profile appears in front of the people who need precisely what you practise, in the jurisdiction where you are registered.

You choose the areas and languages shown, and you can change them at any time from your profile.

    2. A person typing on a laptop at a tidy desk surrounded by plants.

      Step 2 of 4

      Requests that arrive already framed

Before the first exchange, the client has described their situation and named the area and the canton. You read a request, not a cold call, and you decide with full knowledge whether to answer it.

You remain free to decline a request, without having to justify it.

    3. A tidy white workspace with a laptop, a plant and books against a brick wall.

      Step 3 of 4

      Less administration

Messaging, documents and invoicing live in the same place as the matter. The agreed scope and the price are written into the offer, and the invoice repeats exactly those terms.

Every step leaves a dated record, useful on the day somebody needs to remember what was agreed.

    4. A woman at her desk reviewing paperwork.

      Step 4 of 4

      Secure payment

The client funds the work in advance; the funds are held by the platform and paid to you when the work is confirmed. The ora. service fee is charged to the client: nothing is withheld from your fee, and the two amounts are never one total divided up.

You know before you start that the agreed amount is really there.

    The journey

    If you are a lawyer

Verification is manual and it is the heart of the service. It takes a little time, deliberately.

    1. A woman working on a laptop in a modern office, with documents beside her.

      Step 1 of 4

      Create your profile

Registration number, canton, practice areas, languages, indicative rate and biography.

    2. A man leafing through a large register in an office archive.

      Step 2 of 4

      Have your registration verified

We check your registration against the cantonal register you name, and we keep the name of that register and the date.

    3. A person typing on a laptop at a tidy desk surrounded by plants.

      Step 3 of 4

      Answer requests

You accept a booking, decline it or propose another time. Messaging opens once the mandate is paid. You remain free to turn a matter down.

    4. A woman at her desk reviewing paperwork.

      Step 4 of 4

      Work, and be paid

Your fee is paid to you in full. The ora. service fee is charged to the client, on its own line; the two amounts are never merged.

A rule, not a selling point

    Your independence

A Swiss lawyer may not share fees with a non-lawyer. ora. therefore charges the client for its own service, separately and in its own name: a service fee of 15%, added to the fee on the client’s invoice and shown as a separate line. Nothing is withheld from what is paid to you: your fee, set by you and agreed with the client, reaches you in full.

The mandate is between you and the client. ora. is not a party to it, gives no instructions, and does not intervene in how the matter is run.

    Verification

    How we verify

Verification is done by a person, by hand, not by a machine.

    1. The cantonal register

We consult the cantonal register of lawyers that you name.

    2. A record kept

We keep the name of the register consulted and the date, so that we can evidence it.

    3. Visible once verified

Your profile becomes visible to clients once verification is done, and not before.

What your clients entrust to you

    Professional secrecy

The product has no general administrative access to case content. Exceptional access needs a written justification, approval by a second person, a time limit of twenty-four hours and a permanent record. The one exception: a message one of the parties reports to ora., which staff may then read, that message only, every read being recorded.

    What is built in

    • Two amounts, never one

The lawyer's fee and the ora. service fee stay separate everywhere they appear, from the booking to the invoice.

    • Verification done by hand

An administrator consults the cantonal register the lawyer names, and we keep the name of the register and the date of the consultation.

    • Two-sided reviews

Reviews are tied to a completed engagement, and both sides review each other.

    • French and English

Both languages throughout, with translated addresses: /avocats and /lawyers are the same page.

    • Swiss hosting

Data stays in Switzerland, in the Zurich region.

    • Professional secrecy

A matter is visible to its client and to verified lawyers whose practice areas match it. There is no general administrative access to matter content in the product.

    Questions people ask

Can a lawyer be on ora. without a Swiss bar registration?

No. Registration on a cantonal bar register is checked before a profile is published, and it is what the verification rests on.

    How is a lawyer verified?

Every applicant gives their registration number for a cantonal bar register. An administrator consults that register by hand, and we keep the name of the register consulted and the date of the consultation. A profile only becomes visible to clients once that check is done.

Can the verification badge be out of date?

It is only shown while the verification stands: if it is withdrawn, or the account is suspended, the profile disappears from results immediately. The date the register was last consulted is on the profile, so you can judge how recent it is yourself.

What does ora. cost a lawyer?

Nothing is withheld from your fee. ora. charges its service fee to the client, on a line separate from yours, and you receive the agreed amount in full. Publishing a profile and services is free.

    When am I paid?

The client pays when they book. The funds are held by the platform and paid out to your account once the consultation has taken place and the client has confirmed it. On a time-based mandate, each time entry the client approves is paid out to you; the unused part of their budget goes back to them as a credit.

    Can I refuse a booking?

Yes. You choose between instant booking and booking on approval, and you can decline a request or propose another time. A conflict of interest found before confirmation refuses the booking by itself. Once an instant booking is confirmed, cancelling it with fewer than six hours to go counts against your reliability and suspends instant booking for thirty days.

What happens if the client does not show up?

Ten minutes after the scheduled time, the appointment is recorded as missed by the platform, not by you. You keep your fee under the cancellation scale and the client is told. If you are the one who misses the appointment, the client is refunded in full and instant booking is suspended for you for thirty days.

Apply once, then choose your work

Verification is done by hand and takes a little time, deliberately. After that, enquiries in your areas reach you on their own.
